Doomsday movies

Here is a way to start and end the month, quite sometime ago, i had the privilege of watching two
great movies, one being 2012 and the other is the knowing. I love the movies so much, not because of the spectacular display of graphics or the even the fact that it had to do with the end of the world, no i loved these movies because i saw humanity in it. How do i explain this?
ok, in both movies it showed how someone would sacrifice so much to save others even when his or
her life was in danger. The person choose to belive above all in survival. Told me of the movies never really saw what i saw like hope even in the end of everything, all one of my friends could observe was that "God promised never to distroy the earth with water" and another said the earth could never even be distroyed, then another said the world would end soon (gee like we don't already know that), i felt disgusted by the flood of rubish i was hearing.
Was i the only one to observe such? Did they not understand the meaning of the movies they watched? Doomsday movies are not factual, true enough but they are built on elements of facts. For everything that has a beginning surely has an end. But i feel we christians lose the interpretation of the meaning.
God promises hope in times of dispair however bad, he promises to keep his own even when the end comes. Lets keep that in mind always
