I sat beside an old childhood friend, lets call him alex, we have known each other for years, he is still currently in school in his final year, we both studied similar courses, i studied computer science and he studied math computer.
His attitude scares me and i mean alot.
here is a brief summary of the conversation we had

ME : whats up, long time??
ALEX: Am fine
ME : So how far with your final year project, what chapter are you?
ALEX : am in chapter three
ME : Have you started implimentation yet??
ALEX : No, i have someone doing it for me.
ME : How much is he charging?
ALEX : 15,000
ME: I can do it for you for 10
ALEX : ..........
ME : you know you have to learn it yourselve right??
ALEX : I Know
ME : They could ask you to run and explain how the application works
ALEX (Being indifferent about the situation) : I know
ME : Why don't you learn it yourself
ALEX : I will learn it when i finish the stuff
ME (Still being insistant): there will be no zeal if you learn it afterwards

After a brief silence i decided to try another tactic

ME : What do you want to do after school??
Alex : i don't know
ME : I want to do my masters and the get a job afterwards
Alex (taking the hint i wanted to do thesame and said) : yeah, me too
ME : Where do you want to work ??
Alex : Anywhere.
ME : Can you work in a hospital?
Alex : no
ME : Then you can't work anywhere
Alex :.......... You, where do you want to work?
ME : An IT firm, or networking
Alex : Me too.
At this point in the conversation, i had lost all hope in discussing about dreams and ambitions with him. I was more angry at him not having any focus at all than a boring discusion that seemed to be dragging on and on.
I promised him i would not discuss about his future or his project but rather watch from a distance the fireworks display that may end is career (if he thinks he has any).
I have come to realise there are people in our lives we wished in all heaven we could help, we could save and we could savage, but they just end up dragging us down as dead weight......
